Privacy policy

1. The short version
WiseWallee is a personal budgeting app. The financial data you enter — your wallets, transactions, budgets, and categories — is stored in our database so that it survives, and syncs between, the devices you sign in from. Every row is tied to your account and protected by database rules that stop any other user from reading it. We don't sell your data, we don't advertise against it, and we don't use it for anything beyond running the app for you. The rest of this policy explains that in more detail.
2. Information we collect
Account information. If you create an account, we collect what you provide for it — a display name, email address, and an optional profile photo.
Financial data you enter. Wallet names and currencies, transactions (amount, type, category, date, and any note you add), budgets, and categories. This data is stored in our database and associated with your account.
Payment information. We don't currently collect any payment details: billing isn't connected yet, and plan changes are applied by hand when you request them from inside the app. If we introduce billing later, card details will be collected and processed by a payment provider directly — we won't receive or store them ourselves — and we'll update this policy before that happens.
Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visits, so we can see which parts of the app people actually use. It records the page visited, the site you arrived from, and coarse device information such as country, browser, and device type. It is cookieless, doesn't follow you across other websites, and is never linked to your account or to any of the financial data you enter.
3. How we use information
We use account information to authenticate you and personalize the app (for example, showing your name and initials in the header). Financial data you enter is used only to power the app's own features for you — your dashboard, charts, and budget tracking. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't analyze it for any purpose beyond displaying it back to you.
4. Where your data lives
Your account and financial data — wallets, transactions, budgets, and categories — are stored server-side in a hosted Postgres database provided by Supabase, our infrastructure provider. Every row carries your account id, and row-level security rules enforced by the database itself restrict access to that account, so one user can never read or change another user's data.
Because this data is stored on the server rather than in your browser, it follows you between devices when you sign in. It also means clearing your browser's history or site data does not delete it — that only signs you out on that device. To remove your data, delete your account from Settings → Account, which removes your account and its wallets, transactions, budgets, and categories. If you want your own copy first, export a CSV from Settings → Manage data.
5. Sharing your information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run the app: with the infrastructure providers that host the app and its database on our behalf, with a payment processor if and when billing is introduced, or where required by law.
The app also fetches daily currency exchange rates from a third-party rate provider. Those requests carry no personal or financial data — they retrieve a public list of rates, which is stored once and shared by all accounts.
6. Cookies and local storage
WiseWallee sets cookies to keep you signed in and to keep your session valid as you move around the app. Your browser's local storage is used for small display preferences, such as whether you've chosen the light or dark theme. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Your rights and choices
You can view, edit, or delete any wallet, transaction, budget, or category at any time directly in the app. You can export a full copy of your transactions as CSV from Settings → Manage data, and update your name, email, or photo from Settings → Account. Deleting your account from Settings → Account removes your account together with the wallets, transactions, budgets, and categories stored against it. As noted above, clearing your browser's site data only signs you out — it doesn't delete anything stored on the server.
8. Children's privacy
WiseWallee isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes — most notably if we introduce billing, or begin processing your data in a materially different way. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we do, and we'll call out any material change in the app.
